Director of Coaching

Job Description:
The New Prague Soccer Club (NPSC) is seeking a highly motivated soccer subject matter expert
to fill the Director of Coaching (DOC) position for our soccer program. The DOC will report to the
NPSC Board of Directors and work hand in hand with them to continue developing the NPSC
program in New Prague, MN and surrounding communities.

Qualifications:
• Ideal candidate will possess a USSF, UEFA, or similar coaching credentials, or agree to meet
the requirements within 1 year.
• Five or more years of youth coaching experience preferred.
• Playing experience that demonstrates strong skills and soccer knowledge, professional or
college level highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to develop coaches and players plus designing educational programs to
enhance the development of the game.
• Previous experience as a Director of Coaching highly desired.
• Strong leadership and management skills that include the following:
o Ability to organize and execute multiple projects, tasks, and responsibilities
simultaneously.
o Experience managing paid and volunteer coaching staff and support personnel.
o Possess excellent verbal, phone and written communication skills.
o Excellent interpersonal skills and conflict management
o Applicants must be able to work flexible hours including weekend events and be willing
to travel as needed.

Responsibilities:
DOC shall oversee all NPSC programs - Recreational and Competitive (traveling or League One),
to enhance player development while educating coaches, players, and parents. DOC shall work
to bridge the gap between the Recreational and Competitive programs to aid in growing the
club.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Establish or recommend purchase of training curriculum for all programs appropriate for the
age levels.
• Establish training curriculum that builds upon itself from one age level to the next.
• Establish and maintain Coach training curriculum to ensure NPSC Coaches are continually
learning and growing. Recommendations to NPSC BOD on certification policy and non-parent
payment structure.
• Quarterly coaching clinics
• Player and coach retention
• Further develop NPSC player/club philosophies
• Provide training for Traveling and Recreational Soccer Coaches prior to each season.
• Aid in selecting Coaches for all Traveling programs.
• Develop older players to coach at the rec or younger traveling levels
• Maintain Coaching certifications
• Provide or solicit input on Coaching and Player evaluations
• Lead player assessments in the summer for team formation
• Head of the player placement committee, participation from executive board and volunteer
competitive directors (if positions are filled)
• Observe a minimum of 2 practices for each team each season and provide
feedback/guidance.
• First step in mediating parent/player/coaching conflicts.
• Hold or organize a third party vendor 2 Training Camps per year.
• Hold or organize a third party Winter and/or Futsal training per year. If not third party
hosted, participate in winter training or assign certified owner for the programming.
• Educate parents on NPSC philosophies on player development and age-appropriate activities.
• Evaluate current programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Assist in college ID plans or recruitment assistance
• Liaison/Partner with High School coaches
• Community development and networking-ie build and improve nearby community programs
like Jordan, TCU, Belle Plaine
• Facilitate a Soccer Operations committee meeting(s), and participate at BOD meetings as
needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional incentives will be
offered based on player enrollment, whether clinics are hosted by DOC, etc.
